Deploy Metadata Across Orgs

Move metadata between orgs and source control: retrieve it, package it into a deployable project, deploy it to the target org and check that it works there. This capability sits in DevOps Center: area-level work within the Salesforce Platform overview.

How MeshMesh does it

  1. Reviews the source asset and lists the metadata needed to move it. For a Tableau Next dashboard this covered workspaces, the visualization, semantic data models, metrics, custom fields and permission sets.
  2. Writes the SF CLI retrieve and deploy commands into a plan and hands it to the user for review.
  3. For an org clone, exports the metadata and the data from the source org.
  4. Compares the target org's installed packages with the source org's, sorts them into already installed, required and skippable, and checks that the metadata does not reference the skipped ones.
  5. Stops and hands over when a step needs the user, such as installing the required packages before deployment.
  6. Rolls back deployed changes on request, including Apex triggers and classes, OmniScript Remote Actions and Data Mapper mappings.

When the work includes removing components from the target org, see Deploy Destructive Metadata Changes.
