Design Agent Topic Instructions
Write the topic-level instructions and grounding that steer how an Agentforce agent behaves, so it picks the right topic and responds the way the business expects.
Method
How MeshMesh does it
- Investigates why an agent fails before changing instructions, for example tracing failed Task and Event creation to UI API version gating, ghost fields on layouts and a polymorphic field, and finding that the planner picked standard actions over custom Flow actions.
- Adds the supporting data model changes a topic needs, such as a lookup field and new picklist values on Case.
- Updates the permission set so the agent can reach the new object.
- Writes the topic instruction, falling back to the Tooling API when the Agent Builder UI refuses the save.
- Builds the surrounding service setup when needed, such as email-to-case, Omni-Channel routing, a Data 360 retriever and a prompt template.
- Creates test cases and runs conversation previews to check behavior.
- Diagnoses planner routing and action parameter problems, then rewrites action and topic instructions across several rounds.
- Activates the agent so it is ready for testing.
To check the result afterwards, see Test Agentforce Agents.
